About Laurel WM Guards

Laurel WM Guards van with the office phone number on its side, parked on a wet street in front of a brick house

Laurel WM Guards is a water damage restoration company serving Laurel, Maryland and the nearby communities in Prince George's, Howard, Anne Arundel and Montgomery counties. There is no storefront. We work out of vans, we answer the phone, and we come to you.

This page says how we work and what we use. It leaves out the usual list of credentials, because we would rather you judge the work by what is on the moisture log.

How a job runs

Every job follows the same order. Stop the source. Take moisture readings and mark the wet boundary. Pull out the standing water. Remove what cannot be saved. Dry what can. Check the readings until they match dry reference points, and only then take the equipment out. That sequence is laid out in full on our water damage restoration page, and the steps do not change with the size of the job.

What changes is the water. Clean water from a supply line is handled differently from gray water from an appliance, and both are different from sewage. We sort each job by the categories in the industry standard, ANSI/IICRC S500, which we use as a guide to how to work. We make no claim of certification.

What we bring

  • Moisture meters for drywall, wood and concrete, used to build a map of the wet areas.
  • Submersible pumps and extractors for standing water, from a few inches in a basement to a flooded crawlspace.
  • Air movers and dehumidifiers, sized to the room and the amount of water, with desiccant units for cold spaces.
  • Containment sheeting, negative air machines and HEPA-filtered vacuums for mold work.
  • Protective gear for gray and black water: respirators, gloves, boots and coveralls.
  • Cameras and a log, so every job ends with readings and photographs you can hand to an adjuster or a landlord.

How we talk to you

Most calls start with questions about what you see, where the water came from and how long it has been there. We say what we think the first visit will involve and what you can do before we arrive. If something is outside what we do, such as plumbing repairs, we say so and suggest you call a plumber. Prices are covered on the pricing page. They are set after we see the loss, not before.

Where we work

Serving Laurel, MD and Nearby Area. We have pages on the ground, the housing and the utilities in South Laurel, North Laurel, Maryland City, West Laurel, Burtonsville. Each is written from county planning records and soil and river data, not from guesswork. If your address is near one of these communities but not in it, call, and we will tell you whether we can get there.
